Chapel of the age of the Árpáds

A hévízi Árpád-kori templom

The chapel at the end of the wine cellar row of Egregy, built in Roman architectural style, was first mentioned in 1341. St Catherine of Alexandria was the first patron saint of the chapel. It was renovated several times, but they always kept its medieval form. We can visit inside here a straight presbytery, its one vessel, a medieval consecrated cross and a part of a christening basin. The calvary consecrated in the summer of 2022 is located below the church, but can be approached from the lower road. It consists of 14 stations in total. A 300-meter-long walkway with a height difference of 23.5 meters leads from the starting point to the tomb symbolizing the resurrection of Christ. Almost exclusively natural, locally found building elements were used.
